Going back to those old lessons!

Hey,

Today I wanted to talk about what I have been doing with my face; in terms of both make up and skin lately. I haven't been wearing make up daily as much as I used to be, I have been working a lot and spending time with the little people in my family so I really just haven't needed to look like a drag queen much lately.

I have however been very concerned with my skin and skin care routine. I have been making time to use mud masks and other hydrating masks as well as try out different samples of serums, eye creams and day and night creams.

I keep going back to the same advice I learnt from one of Wayne Goss' Youtube videos time and again when I run into a wall with my make up. By run into a wall I mean that my normal routine just isn't working as well as it once was. I ran into a wall one Saturday earlier in February when after not wearing make up all week I decided to do a full face.

When looking at myself in the mirrors at H&M while out shopping I was horrified and how my makeup looked. My make up looked like it was applied by a toddler and it was cakey and breaking up and I had only applied it an hour or so previous. I felt wronged by my ridiculously expensive routine. Estee Lauder Double wear concealer and foundation and RCMA translucent powder. These were not cheap purchases and normally I really like how it all comes out on my face but that Saturday it just didn't gel.

A few days later after not wearing make up again I decided to go back to the routine I had learnt from Wayne Goss in an effort to beat that cakey look. This routine is essentially broken up into three steps;

Step 1:
Moisturiser/ Primer
Step 2:
Powder
Step 3:
Foundation

First I applied my Rimmel lasting finish primer and Double wear concealer. Followed by brushing on my RCMA no colour powder and then my Double Wear foundation. I noticed straight away that I had much better coverage and that my foundation looked a lot more natural without that cake like look. I have officially gone back to this way of applying my make up.

Thanks for reading,

Danny xx
