Review - Arbonne FC5 Oil-Absorbing Day Lotion with SPF 15

Hey,

Today I wanted to review - Arbonne's Oil-Absorbing Day Lotion with SPF 15.  This is a purchase I made in the hopes of moving all of my skin care over to the Arbonne range in order to balance my skin care regime. I have since realised that some of the other products from other brands I have used in the past are better value for money.

As I have stated with the cleanser, this bundle (as pictured on the left) was an order I had mixed up. I essentially ordered the wrong skin pack.

According to the Arbonne catalogue the Oil-Absorbing Day Lotion with SPF 15 is for Oily/Combination skin and contains 50ml for $62.00 for non-members. I luckily Payed $106 for the moisturiser, powder and cleanser. Which are pictured to the left.

The catalogue goes onto say about the moisturiser, 'See shine go. This light-weight moisturiser helps absorb oil and provides sun protection, leaving skin with a fresh matte appearance.'.

Key ingredients:
Fresh kiwi cells, Matte Fresh Complex, grapeseed oil

Directions: Apply moisturiser to face before sun exposure.

I have used this moisturiser for approximately the last two months. I was very surprised there was enough in the tube (50ml) to last as long as it did. I was using on average 3 pumps each morning to cover my face and neck area.

I will admit that I do not have the required skin type for this product, as I am dry and it is for oily/combination but I do believe that this is an alright mosturiser for the T-zone if you are not extremely oily. It did manage to keep my T-zone from becoming shinny and oily looking, all day.

On lazy days when I just wear mosturiser sans makeup, this moisturser manages to absorb the oil on my skin, leaving my skin free from a noticeable build up of oil or oily sheen. It does not keep my skin completely matte in the T-zone but enough so that I do not need to blot my skin.

The moisturiser itself is quick drying/ absorption once applied, so if youre in a hurry a quick application for make up can occur.

I would recommend this product for someone with combination to mild oily skin as it does a decent job of keeping the skin matte. I cannot comment for really oily skin tones though. It also did not dry out my already dry skin which was a bonus, and something I worry about when I do not use hydrating moisturisers.

I feel that while it controlled any oil that my face produced throughout the day, it is not the moisturiser for me. I need something with more of a focus on hydration.

My posting schedule

Hey,

Today I wanted to do a post a little different to the rest of my posts. This will be a little more informative about my blog going forward rather than about a haul or review on a beauty product. I will be detailing my new post schedule, what is to be expected for each post of the month. I will continue at this stage to post every second day as it has become a habit I don't mind doing.

A new beauty habit that I have implemented in the last couple of months is as I open and start using a product I date the item. I am doing this so I can see how quickly I use items such as face washes and moisturizers as well as giving me an indicator on when to throw a mascara out. As I finish items I will be writing the date as well for when I write my Monthly empty post which gives me a better indication on if the item was worth the money paid.

1st Post of the month:

This post will detail the previous months empties, products that I finished up in the previous month. So for example the first post of the month of October will be titled 'September Empties'.  In this post I will provide photos of each of the individual products as well as a small paragraph with my thoughts on how the product functioned and if I would recommend or repurchase. This will include dates of when I first opened and finished the product, to give everyone an indication on how long the item took me to finish.

2nd Post of the month:

This post will detail the previous months purchases, purchases I made in the month before. So for example the second post of the month of October will be titled 'September Purchases'. In this post I will provide a photo including all the products I purchased as well as the price, and place I purchased them from.

3rd Post of the month:

This post will detail the previous months Facebook Buy Swap and Sell purchases, purchases I made in the month before off of Facebook groups. So for example the third post of the month of October will be titled 'September Facebook Buy Swap and Sell purchases'.

Middle posts of the month:

These posts will detail reviews of different products, MOTD's and other filler type posts. So for example a post may be titled 'Review - Love Shimmer', which will detail a review of a Kmart highlighter.

Last post of the month:

This post will detail my favourite products I have used during the month. For example the last post of the month will be titled 'Favourite products of the month'.

Redwin Tea Tree Shampoo

Hey,

Today I want to review the Redwin Tea Tree Shampoo. This is a shampoo I first started purchasing a year or so ago when I went through a tea tree phase. Anything with tea tree in it I had to try out at the time. I have to admit that this has been a shampoo I have purchased multiple times already, and I plan on repurchasing now that I finished my last bottle in August. It works wonders on cleaning hair and stripping out the build up left by other products applied to the hair. My hair feels the cleanest after using this shampoo.

Packaging states that Redwin Tea Tree shampoo;
  • Removes build-up left by other shampoos
  • Softens, repairs and protects hair
  • pH balanced

Directions:
Wet hair. Apply enough Redwin Tea Tree liquid to produce an abundant lather while massaging into the hair and scalp (repeat wash recommended for severe build-up. Rinse. Excellent for daily use or as recommended by your pharmacist.

I made it a habit to use this shampoo once a week, in the place of the shampoo I was using at the time. My reasoning for this is, that it refreshed my hair and washed out all the other products without stripping too much out. Daily use was effective but my hair flourished when used once a week. I would still shampoo my hair twice on the night that I allocated to use this shampoo.

If you use a lot of products in your hair and need to remove the build up left over then buy this shampoo. It is priced under $5 and well worth the money. It leaves your hair feeling so fresh and clean you wouldn't recognise it.

Review - eBay DOS of Colours in Desert Suede

Hey,

Today I wanted to review my DOS of Colours replica I purchased off of eBay in the shade Desert Suede.  Like when I purchased the Lime Crime in Cashmere I was very impressed with the formula of this replica liquid lipstick. The only problem I found with it was it can be sightly drying on the lips, but nothing too extreme.

It is long wearing but like just about any lipstick if you eat expect more wear than if you haven't eaten.  You may have to top up after eating but a few times when I wasn't eating anything too oily I noticed the lipstick stayed on as if I had not eaten. It wears off nicely throughout the day, without crumbling or flaking off. It has a similar colour to my Lime Crime replica in Cashmere in the sense that it is a purple grey nude colour. This type of colour I have noticed I have been very drawn to in the last year or so.

Swatch of DOS of Colours Desert Suede.

If you are on a budget, like myself and cannot afford a real DOS of Colours liquid lipstick then have a look on eBay, there are heaps of options. I have also since receiving this in the mail ordered a few more shades.

If you are interested in any links comment below or further reviews, stay tuned.

Have you tried any replica liquid lipsticks off eBay? What did you think?

BYS Translucent Loose Powder

Hey,

Today I wanted to review the BYS Translucent Loose Powder in the shade Light. I finished this product in early August and had previously been using it for quite a few months every day.

This is a loose powder that I loved using, the reasons that I love it are as follows;

  • The powder has a relatively subtle pale beige tone to it
  • It is finely milled
  • It has light-medium coverage that is buildable
  • It is non-irritating
  • It has no flashback that I noticed
  • It is non-cakey when applied
  • Its cheap - under $8 at Kmart
If you have been following my blog you would know that my favourite way to use this powder was under foundation. See my previous post. This is a trick I started doing after viewing a brilliant Wayne Goss Youtube clip. This foundation tip can change your life! Which basically changes the order in which you apply your powder and foundation. This powder works fantastic for this technique, without producing a horrible yellow tinge to the skin.

I will in future be repurchasing this powder in the future.

Review - Arbonne FC5 Hydrating Cleanser + Freshener

Hey,

Today I wanted to review the Arbonne FC5 Hydrating Cleanser + Freshener that I have used over the last month. Way back in May I participated in a make up and skin care trial for the brand Arbonne  - which is where I was first exposed to this cleanser. My initial trial went for three days and I was very impressed with the three day results and after participating in a workshop/party later on in May I made this product a priority purchase.

After using a full tube, I am not as impressed as I thought I would be. Below I have listed both the positives and negatives of this product which will go into detail about why I wasn't as impressed as I first was in the trial period.

Positives of this cleanser:

  • It has a Soft & Soothing formula - it has a white cream type of texture that glides onto the skin easily
  • It has a non-iritating formula - did not cause any irritations or problems with my skin
  • Leaves the skin feeling silky and slightly hydrated
  • It is made from natural Ingredients
  • Formulated without
  1. Animal products or by-products
  2. Artificial flavours
  3. Parabens
  4. Talc
  5. and much more

Negatives of this cleanser:

  • Price - quite expensive $43.00 a tube
  • Quantity - 118ml
  • Improved skin for the first week or so and then was like it stopped working
  • Lasted me between the 24/7 to the 31/8 - just over a month
  • Quite extravagant for someone on a small budget

Overall I was expecting this to be a holy grail product and that by using it and the accompanying exfoliaters and moisturisers that I would be able to have clear and hydrated skin. Unfortunately while at first it appeared to help my skin balance and look clear and hydrated it did not last. I obviously need something with a little more kick to work at targeting problems apart from hydrating. I'm not ready to completely stop using this brand but I will be persevering with the pHisohex antibacterial face wash in the hopes of clearing up my skin.

Kmart Love Flawless Foundation

Hey,

Today I wanted to review the Love Flawless foundation I purchased from Kmart. This is a very affordable, very cheaply priced foundation. I purchased this for $3 alongside the matching powder from the same brand.

The foundation comes in three shades, Light, Medium and Dark - I of course chose to purchase the shade light as I am pasty like Casper.

A huge positive of this product is the amount received for the price, for $3 you get a whopping 38g of foundation.

The foundation even when applied in layers has light coverage at best unless combined with a thicker foundation. Which is something I recommend doing with this product. Adding this foundation to another thicker even matter foundation will give a glowing dewy finish. It also stays tacky and therefore needs to be set with a powder.

If you are on a budget and have relatively clear skin this is a great cheap foundation. Saying that it is not great if you have blemishes or very dark areas needing coverage as it is light coverage even after layered.
