Purchases # 3

Hi,
A few weeks ago I felt the need to have a Kmart session, it had been a while since I had been. I may have overdone it and gotten a little excited.  Below are some photos of my purchases. I have an obsession - I know it!

Mini Beauty Blenders $5
Compared to normal size beauty blenders these two mini blenders are quite tiny, until you run them under some water. Then they puff up to double their own size. I have used the pink blender a few times and it is perfect for blending concealer and setting powder in the under eye area.

Brow Gel $4
I near on love this brow gel, it works fabulously and is cheap cheap cheap!
I was using it daily to tame my brows until I started using the new Maybelline brow drama which darkens my brows. This is definitely worth while if you need to tame your brows. I am personally not a fan of the filled in brow look, so either taming or adding some colour to my own like mascara works for me and is so much more natural.
Blending Brush $2I just have to say.. I threw this blending brush out. Tossed. Gone. In the bin. It was terrible, it lifted the foundation of rather than blending or applying.. It stayed hard rather then softening like other beauty blenders. Was not a fan. At all!

Contour Kit Light $5
I am undivided with this contour kit. I really love the highlighter, its shimmery and perfect for my skin tone. The brown contour colour though, is not fantastic by any standards. I bought the lightest contour kit but I feel that the brown colour is still a little dark if not quite orange on my face.

Have you bought any of these items? What did you think?

Bargain Buys from Caribbean Market

Hi,
So a couple of weeks ago I went to the Caribbean Market and picked up some knock off eye shadow palettes and other goodies I wanted to try out.
Below is a photo and the price I paid.

Fake Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Palette $18
Fake Urban Decay Naked Palette $15
Loreal Infallible Foundation $12
Burts Bees Acai Berry Lip Balm $4
Nyx Butter gloss $3

So far I have only used the Chocolate Bar Palette, and only a few colours but I am quite impressed. The colours are lovely and quite pigmented which always impresses me with unauthentic palettes.

I will attempt to review each item as I use them.

Let me know if you have used any and your thoughts!

BB... CC creams

Hi,

I want to talk about the BB and CC creams I own.

These are the liquid BB and CC creams that are apart of my over sized collection of make-up. I used to use a Garnier BB cream and a Maybelline BB cream but I was finding there was next to no skin benefits for my face. If anything they increased the break outs I was having. The BB and CC creams pictured below are more recent discount purchases.

Le Tan Daily Face SPF 50 BB Cream

Whether it was fake tan or not the first time I used this BB cream I ended up with an obnoxiously orange face. The next time I used it there was less of of an orange face effect which relieving. It is defiantly something that will be used during summer, so coming into autumn it will go in my make-up box and stay till summer.

The first two tubes of these BB Creams I bought from Priceline for 60 cents each.Beauty Essentials Flawless BB Cream (Fair to Medium Skin)

This BB cream apply's very lightly, it has very light coverage but can be layered either with other products or more layers of the BB cream to create a fuller coverage. It has a very pale light pink colour to it, which is good for pink toned skin. It also has a lightweight feel to it and doesn't feel cakey. It is good for a day when I feel like like wearing very minimal make up.

Beauty Essentials Flawless BB Cream (Medium to Dark Skin)

I find that these two products work best for me when mixed together,  the mixture comes out a better colour for my skin tone. The colour tone of the Medium to Dark skin isn't overly dark at all. Not suited to dark skin, maybe slightly tanned pale skin.

MaXfactor Colour Correcting Cream (30 Light)

This is the second Maxfactor CC cream I have bought, the first was amazing. It had amazing coverage and colour for such a lightweight product. This one above I purchased during a Priceline sale. I have in between pink  and yellow toned skin, sort of depends on the  foundation and powder I use. This is a very pale colour, with quite a strong  pink tone. I have been using it to mix with other foundations that are the wrong shade for my skin. CC Cream swatches

Do you use any of these products?Which do you love or hate?

ColourPop - TOOTSI matte

Hi,

So it was only a couple months ago that I came across ColourPop, much to everyone's dismay. It isn't something that is available in shops in Australia. It is an online thing, and with the Aussie dollar the way it is... make-up costs a fortune from America.

I have to admit I got a little excited and bought a couple of products that I tried and haven't picked up since, but Tootsi was a shade my mum wanted.  In the swatches online it looks more pinky neutrally, but it isn't in person.

It turned out to be more of a grey looking nude and did not suit her skin tone, but on me it worked amazingly. It is the perfect colour with a bold eye, or a natural eye or any sort of eye. It is a very versatile lip colour. It is the one colour I can put n and not think about whether it suits the rest of my make up - because it does. Every time.  Looks completely different on yellow darker toned skin compared to lighter, paler pink toned skin.

On the lips it is quite a thick product that lasts quite a while - tends to come of when I eat because I dab at my lips too much.

ColourPop's Tootsi in Matte

If you want a lovely nude tone for a pale pink skin tone buy this lippie, it is so worth it.
I plan on ordering at least 2 more from colour pop.

Great PRIMER debate.

Hi,

So my post schedule is off slightly, I had a major assessment due for my Masters course last week and since then I have been avoiding my laptop and doing house work.

Otherwise the Primer debate continues..

The first time I ever used a primer was approximately four or so years ago, before applying make-up for my Aunty's hens night. At the time I was heavy into eyeliner and had no clue what contouring was. Shock! Horror! Let alone that you had to put a powder over a foundation for it to set. Therefore it was in my best interest to hand the reigns over to my aunt and her friend who is a professional dancer. They squirted out this slimy stuff on my finger and instructed me to apply it all over my face.. and well what do you know, my foundation lasted all night. Since then I have been on the hunt for the perfect primer.

Too faced Hangover Primer

Brilliant Primer from Mecca Cosmetica - started with a sample pot and then my friend changed primers and gave me her mostly full tube to use. It is definitely my favourite primer, that I try to use on special occasions as being a bit of a pauper means its hard to afford.

Would recommend if you have the budget.

Maybelline's Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

I kept seeing ads on tv for this primer and  figured if I could find it on sale I would buy it..

A few days later it came home with me. I only finished my first tube a couple of weeks ago and I have to admit it is the shizz! It has an odd feeling texture, silicon like but glides onto the face easily. This then makes the next product whether it is BB, CC cream or foundation apply easily and flawlessly. It also adds to the length of time make-up lasts on the face. It considerably makes pores less visible.

Would recommend.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer

A primer I bought it up in Mildura on sale at Coles, and have only just started using.

This is product has a thick consistency, with a milk like colour. At first I was
not completely sold on this product, I felt that more testing is required. I've been using it the last couple of weeks and at first felt like it didn't do a lot. Until I tried out a couple of other primers on alternate day. It is fantastic, it doesn't clog my pores or cause break outs. My make-up stays longer and applies smoother.

Would definitely recommend.

Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave balm

I've used this product as a primer a couple of times recently and for a Men's product it works quite well. It does hold foundation where it is applied and extends the time the foundation stays on the face.

I have found I get a better foundation/ colour corrector application if I wait till this product becomes tacky. It tends to hold the product better than if I let it completely dry.

In terms of consistency, it is thin and milky and has a very strong manly smell. The smell doesn't bother me. I have read that it can be a hit and miss.

So far I would recommend.

W7 Prime Magic Camera Ready Face Primer

I have a new obsession with W7 brand cosmetics. I have recently bought some of their eye shadows, their bronzer/highligher & blush and have found they are quality for such a small price. I do not think I am completely into this primer though...
The primer has the same consistency and feeling when applied as the Maybelline Instant Pore Eraser primer. I don't think it has the same power to hold foundation.. I will reserve my right to make a final decision until I use more of it.

Let me know what your favourite primer is!

Modelsprefer NUDE Eyeshadow Palette

Hi,

So I figured it was time to blog about this palette. I bought it just after New Years, after eyeing it off for a couple of weeks.  Before giving in and just purchasing it.The palette retails at Priceline for $12.99 which is quite cheap - good value for money.

I am quite obsessed with eye shadows, especially nude palettes as they tend to have shadows that are in the brown end of the scale. Even though I have brown - hazel eyes I cannot wear green or blue or even most purples. I end up looking like a lady of the street corner at night. I stick to whites, nudes, golds, browns and blacks.

It is an eye shadow palette I use if I am going out at night- as the browns are very pigmented with flecks of sparkle which definitely attract attention to the eyes. It isn't an eye shadow I would necessarily use every day unless I had the time to really think the application through.
In terms of pigmentation they are very pigmented, the texture is buttery making it quite easy to blend. It also has fantastic staying powder, it lasts more than all day.

The palette is quite small, so easy to store or even hold in a hand bag.

The only downside is that at times they shadows can be powdery and make a bit of a mess - nothing a hand towel won't fix.

Let me know if you have used this eye shadow palette and what you thought..

Thanks for checking out my post.

Maybelline the Nudes!

Hi, going to do a small review on the Maybelline eye shadow palette the NUDES.

So approximately two months ago I saw there was a sale on at Coles supermarket for Maybelline products after seeing the ads featuring The NUDES eye shadow palette I decided I wanted it. I payed only $10 so was considerably excited as I have seen it priced up to $25 in other stores, plus if it wasn't any good it wasn't much of a loss.

Since bringing it home, I have used it quite a bit especially the black in the bottom right hand corner - use this to line my lower eye lashes, and the pale creamy white beside it- use in the corners of my eyes beside my nose.

I find the colours suit my complexion considerably as  my hair and eyes are hazel  with naturally dark brown hair that I dye black. It is easy to apply, some of the colour' more pigmented than the others - but it is a nude palette not meant to be too intense. The lighter colours are a lot more subtler than the dark, which is good if you want a more subtle eye or if you gradually want to build up the colour.

Swatches of the NUDES palette.

Top 6 shadows

Bottom 6 Shadows

I have read a lot of reviews that put this shadow palette down as it is not as pigmented as other nude palettes. I will agree with that for some of the shadows, but it is a nude palette. A subtle eye shadow application is preferred for daily use. So if you want a subtly, even elegant professional every day look. This palette is for you. If you want in your face pigmentation, look at something else. It needs to be appreciated for what it is.

Thanks for reading my post.

Let me know your opinion on this palette, most either love or hate it!

Before bed face routine.

Hi,

So after posting about my before primer routine I figured it was a good idea to post about my before bed face routine. Again like my before primer routine I like to use the same products consistently - for a time anyways.

These are some of the products I have been using lately before bed.

1. Make-up removal

Before I shower I make sure to remove all of my make-up using Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water.
This is obviously a very popular product for people to use, reviews everywhere you turn. I make a habit of showering before bed, therefore I use this product in conjunction with a proper face washing. It normally takes approximately four round make up pads to clean a face full of make-up off. It generally leaves my skin with a slightly oily feel - would not mind trying the new green Micellar water Garnier has brought out.

2. Face wash

The next step as stated above is using a face wash. I have for the last month been using Olay's Cream cleanser, but found it was quite soft and I decided to use it in the mornings as opposed to at night. So earlier in the week I swapped to Biores Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. Once in the shower after I have thoroughly wet my face I apply the cleanser. I do this by squirting a good amount on my fingers, rubbing my finger tips together and then rubbing in circles all over my face. The product itself, as the name implies has a creamy texture which feels nice on both the fingertips and the face. After it has been thoroughly rubbed into my skin I rinse it off.. on days where I feel like my skin has taken a beating I repeat the process again.

3. Face scrub

Twice a week, on a Sunday and Wednesday night I use this  Olay skin smoothing cream scrub alongside the creme cleanser.
I have recently added in using the Olay facial cleansing device to this routine - which I feel gives my pores a deeper clean.

4. Toner

This toner is not for the feint-hearted - it at times feels as if you're rubbing straight alcohol over your face which is not necessarily good for broken skin. I have one more bottle of this under my sink. I had been using this toner for the last month but I decided to make a natural toner which I have been using for the last week and I'm impressed with the changes in my skin already. It includes, green tea, apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil.

5. Blemish

I have spoken about this Blemish gel in my before primer routine post. It was cheap, on the discount shelf at Priceline. Since buying it I haven't been able to find it - which is terrible. Again after toning I squeeze out a blob of this and apply it to my face all over- I find this blemish gel works fantastically at toning down problem areas. It is not a quick fix and can take a couple of days for larger break outs. It does seem to contain break outs once used regularly.

This product is amazing, if you get the chance to try it, have a go!

6. Moisturiser

I bought this moisturiser after I watched my Aunty apply it to my baby cousin - A doctor recommended Vitamin E cream for fading scars. Which my little cousin has tonnes of because she has a habit of tripping and falling on her face. I also have a lot of blemish left scars on my face so I figured it couldn't hurt. I was also looking for a more hydrating moisturiser after finishing my last tub of Nivea soft.
