I wanted to share a detailed account of the skin care routine I was up to a couple of days ago, applying to my face which I have now been using for the last couple of weeks. I will also walk though my feelings on the different products, and whether or not they will stay as part of my permanent routine. As well as the products I was using prior to these.
Each morning before I apply my primer I try to keep to the same skin routine.
1. Wash
Normally I start the day by washing my face with a face washer (small towel) which I have run under hot water. Mostly I do this to freshen my skin without having to use a face wash. I am a creature of habit (a certain school camping experience the cause of that!) and shower every night before bed without fail during which I use a face wash and other items that I don't always have time to use in the morning. Sleep is essential to keeping my face from breaking out. If I do shower in the morning then I use the same Olay face wash pictured below.
2. Tone
Loreal Paris Revitalift Rejuvinating TonerThis toner I picked up at a Cosmetic Sale in Sunshine just before new years. This toner is different to the one I use before moisturizing at night. I use it during the day as I feel it leaves my face looking brighter and refreshed, and it is lighter than the one used at night. I had previously been using the same toner morning and night which was the T.N. Dickinson's All Natural Witch Hazel toner (image below). The only reason I stopped using this one was I realised I had picked up a few others on sale and wanted to give them a go before going back to something I trusted. For a day time skin care routine I feel that the Loreal Paris toner leaves my complexion looking brighter, so it may become a permanent fixture - well depending on the price once I run out.
Earlier in the week after a Youtube binge of beauty channels and videos about homemade toners, I decided to make my own and give it a try. I still use the one detailed about - but I keep that to my under eye area as I find it works to give my under eye area a brighter appearance. I've been working at controlling some series neck break outs so I figured a good homemade non-chemically infused toner may help.
It is basically just a mix of green tea, apple cider vinegar and drops of tea tree oil. This, I mix together and store in the fridge in a small spray bottle. I spritz it all over my face, paying the most attention to the acne prone areas. I let it soak in then move onto the next step - moisturize.
3. Moisturize
The moisturizer pictured is one I picked up discounted at Priceline, not too long ago that I have started using during the day. I find that a little goes a long way with this moisturizer, two small pumps thoroughly covers my face and neck. This comes in a pump action bottle which is convenient for portions and it leaves my skin feeling satiny and soft.
Previous to trying out this moisturiser I used Nivea Soft which I found was less greasy than the normal Nivea but was also less moisturizing. I honestly found that it wasn't suited to my skin even though the normal Nivea is what keeps my mums skin amazing.
There you go, my skin care routine before I apply a primer to my face.
Let me know what products you use on your skin!
Thanks for reading,
Danny xx
